ING Hartford Marathon: October 11th 2008

I was an Elite Course Support bicyclist volunteer.

It was Awesome.

Some other bike supports peeps

I lead the way for the 3rd place winner on my bike. Just in case the course got confusing at some point.
which it did.
slightly.

I wanted to talk with him and tell him he was doing awesome..but didn't in fear that I was going to interrupt his state of meditation, concentration, incoherent euphoria.

I mentioned a couple times that I had Hammer Gel...but I don't think he wanted any.

It was easy to convince myself I couldn't possibly be tired.
I was on my Bike, and this guy was Running!!

But I was.

By the time we made Mile 26 and I took the turn away from the finish line so that My Guy could cross the finish line
I finally got off my bike and almost fell over, realizing I hadn't had any water.
Yet I still had to go the worst #1 I've ever had to go (almost)

I ran straight to the nearest port o' potty, (which wasn't near at all)
...almost didn't make it...
then found some free samples of Dunkin' Donuts sugar filled ice coffee.
(so hydrating I know).

I crashed at home and couldn't close my eyes without seeing the course and the runner by my side/behind me.
I hope I was at least a small help to him in the long run.

To My Guy:
I'm sorry I wasn't better company Guy, but I know you wanted your Elite Water Bottle and I am sorry we couldn't get one for you.

If you noticed, I cleared the roads for you when that one weirdo almost ran into you, running the opposite direction.. (that was kind of scary).
and when we were on the last leg...I turned into an announcer
"Runner behind you"
... when really I wanted to say...
"Get the F out of the way you slow poke walkers...Runner behind you!!"
but I didn't.

I have to say one more time, Good Job out there!

(They are way behind)

Winner.
And my guy: Michael Hall proudly listed #3
